Print a sheet with familiar, friendly-looking insects: a bee, a butterfly, a ladybug, and an ant. Ask your child to notice each insect's details first — how many legs does it have? Does it have wings?— before coloring.
Turn it into a small game: ask your child to alternate yellow and black stripes on the bee's body — an excellent exercise in pattern and alternation.
The activity helps your child feel curious rather than fearful about insects, sharpens their attention to fine detail, and improves pencil control within small spaces like wings and legs.
