One morning, while her sandals sat on the riverbank, a great eagle swooped down and carried one of them high into the sky, only to drop it suddenly into the lap of the Pharaoh of Egypt himself as he sat in his palace in the city of Memphis.

Charmed by the beauty of the tiny golden sandal, the Pharaoh ordered his men to search all of Egypt for its owner, and at last they found her. The Pharaoh married Rhodopis, and she became queen over all of Egypt.
