Little elephant Donko moved with his family to a new forest, far from everyone he knew. On his first day, he went to the watering hole where the forest animals gathered, but they eyed him warily since he was a stranger, and kept playing without inviting him.

Donko sat alone under a big tree, sad, feeling he would never find a friend here. A small colorful butterfly noticed his sadness, landed on his trunk, and said, «Why don’t you say hello first? Maybe they’re just waiting for you to take the first step».

Donko hesitated a moment, then gathered his courage and approached a group of small animals playing in the water, saying with a smile, «Hello, I’m Donko, may I play with you?». Everyone was surprised by his kindness and welcomed him at once, even asking him to spray them with his big trunk, and they all laughed together.

By evening, Donko had made many friends, and realized that being a stranger doesn’t last long if we’re the ones to reach out first. He thanked the little butterfly softly, saying, «One word from you changed my whole day».
