Prophet Lut, or Lot, (peace be upon him) lived among people who did very wrong and sinful things, and they stubbornly refused to listen no matter how much good advice reached them.
Lut (peace be upon him) kindly and gently invited his people to leave their wrongdoing and return to the path of goodness, but they refused and mocked his call.
Some visitors came to Lut (peace be upon him), who were actually angels appearing as honored guests. Some of his people tried to harm these guests, which worried and saddened Lut (peace be upon him) greatly.
The guests then told Lut (peace be upon him) that they were angels sent by Allah, and they instructed him to leave at night with his believing family, without anyone looking back, before punishment came upon the wrongdoers.
Lut (peace be upon him) left with those of his family who believed, and Allah mercifully saved them from the punishment that came upon the wrongdoing people because of their persistence in evil.
This story teaches us that a person should always hold firmly to what is good and right, even when those around them are not doing the same.
The Lesson: A believer should stay firm on truth and goodness, even if the people around them choose otherwise.
