The World Kindness Movement — a coalition of kindness-focused NGOs from several countries — launched World Kindness Day in 1998, observed annually on November 13. It carries no United Nations mandate, but has gradually grown into an observance marked in dozens of countries including Australia, Canada, Nigeria, the UAE, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
The day rests on a simple premise: small acts of kindness — helping a stranger, volunteering, or offering an encouraging word — can produce a cumulative positive impact on communities, transcending culture, language, and religion. It reminds people that kindness is not weakness but a force capable of building bridges between people.
Schools, businesses, and communities mark the day with volunteer initiatives, "do something kind" campaigns, and challenges encouraging both children and adults to log and share their daily acts of kindness.
