Every country in the world has a main city called its «capital», where the government sits and important decisions are made. The Arab world has twenty-two countries, and each has its own capital.
Among the most famous Arab capitals are: «Cairo», the capital of Egypt and the largest Arab city by population; «Riyadh», the capital of Saudi Arabia; «Baghdad», the capital of Iraq, once one of the world's most important centers of learning; and «Damascus», the capital of Syria, considered one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.
Other capitals include «Rabat», the capital of Morocco; «Amman», the capital of Jordan; and «Abu Dhabi», the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Learning these capital names helps us understand the map of the Arab world better.
