Boro the bear found a large honeycomb inside a hollow tree trunk, and was overjoyed. He decided to keep its location secret from everyone, afraid that someone might share it with him. Every day he went there alone and ate until full, then returned without telling anyone.

His friends the rabbit and the squirrel noticed that Boro had started disappearing every afternoon without explanation, but they didn’t ask, respecting his privacy. One day, Boro fell seriously ill after eating too much honey alone without stopping, and lay in his den unable to move.

When Boro didn’t appear for days, his worried friends searched and found him weak. They cared for him in turns, brought him water and helpful herbs, and sat by his side until he recovered, even though he had never once shared his food with them.

Boro felt ashamed of his selfishness, and finally led them to the honeycomb, saying, «I’ve learned that friendship is worth more than any honey in the world, and from today we’ll eat it together». They all sat around the honeycomb sharing the golden honey, and Boro found it tasted far sweeter eaten in the company of those he loved.
