In a quiet village on the banks of the Nile lived a simple farmer named Khun-Anup, who worked hard on his land, gathering grain and vegetables to sell at the city market so his family could live with dignity. One day, he loaded his donkeys with the very best of his harvest and set off on his usual journey to the market.

Along the way, his path required him to pass beside land owned by a greedy man. The farmer tried to walk the narrow road carefully so his donkeys would not touch the man's crops. But the greedy man had deliberately spread a cloth across the middle of the path, forcing the farmer closer to his fields, and one of the donkeys stepped onto it and nibbled a little of the nearby wheat by accident.

The greedy man seized the chance, falsely claiming the farmer had trespassed on purpose, and unjustly seized all his donkeys and goods, despite the poor farmer's pleas that he had meant no harm. Khun-Anup was deeply saddened, but he did not give up. He decided to go to the chief official of the city and speak his grievance in honest, moving words.

The farmer stood before the official and spoke with astonishing eloquence, describing the injustice done to him in beautiful, heartfelt words carrying deep wisdom about fairness and justice. Everyone who heard him was amazed by his fine speech and the sincerity of his feelings, and the official asked him to return and repeat his plea many times, so that everyone could enjoy his eloquence and wisdom.

Though the farmer did not know that the official was testing his patience and recording his wise words all along, he kept repeating his plea politely and honestly, without growing weary, until at last the official decided to grant him justice. Everything that had been unjustly taken from him was returned, and the greedy man was punished for his lies and greed.

Khun-Anup returned to his village happy, having received his rightful due, and his story became an example told across generations: that honest, beautiful words carry great power to expose injustice and secure fairness, and that patience paired with good speech is the strength of the weak against the unjust.
