Sami complained a lot — about the food his mother cooked, about his homework, about the size of his room. He rarely felt satisfied with anything in his life, even though he had a loving family and a warm home.

At school, his teacher gave each student a small notebook and said, "Every day, I want you to write down three things you're thankful to God for, no matter how small." Sami felt confused at first, since he wasn't used to thinking this way.

On the first night, Sami sat thinking for a long time before writing: "I'm thankful for my mom who cooks for me every day, for my warm bed, and for my friend who played with me today." He felt a strange sense of comfort after writing these simple words.

Sami kept writing every night, and he began noticing things he had never paid attention to before: his father's smile when he came home from work, the taste of fresh bread, the sound of birds in the morning, and his own health that let him play and run without getting tired.

After a month of daily writing, his mother noticed a big change in Sami — he complained less and smiled more, and he began saying "thank you" with real sincerity whenever a meal was served or someone helped him. When she asked why, he told her about his gratitude journal.

"Gratitude, Sami," his mother said proudly, "helps us see the blessings around us instead of focusing on what we lack." Sami kept writing in his journal even after the school term ended, because he discovered that gratitude made his heart lighter and happier every single day.

The Lesson: Gratitude, even for the simplest blessings, fills the heart with happiness and contentment, and teaches us to always see the good around us.
