The people of Aad lived in a fertile land. They were physically strong and built magnificent structures, but they worshipped other than Allah and grew proud toward those around them.
Allah sent Prophet Hud (peace be upon him), who was one of their own, to invite them to worship Allah alone and to be thankful for the many blessings He had given them.
Hud (peace be upon him) advised his people gently, reminding them of their strength and blessings, and asked them to be humble before Allah and grateful instead of proud of themselves.
The people grew arrogant and rejected Hud's call, believing they were too strong for any harm to reach them, so they continued in their stubbornness and pride.
Allah sent upon them a powerful wind that lasted several days as a consequence of their arrogance and stubbornness, and Allah saved Hud (peace be upon him) and those who believed with him.
This story teaches us that pride in one's own strength does not protect a person, and that humility and gratitude for blessings are the path to safety and contentment.
The Lesson: Humility and gratitude for blessings are better than pride and arrogance about one's strength.
